Refunds for course fees (minus the $100.00 administrative fee) will be issued for requests made up to 60 days prior to the start date of the course (June 27, 2026). Cancellation requests made up to 45 days prior to the start date of the course (July 12, 2026) will be offered a 50% refund (minus a $100.00 administrative fee). No refunds will be offered within 44 days from the start date of the course.}

Overview:

^{In this workshop participants will learn concepts and gain skills for the application of therapeutic techniques that support treatment of depression, anxiety, and trauma disorders, as well as resolution of interpersonal and intrapersonal conflict.}

^{An Externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy® (EFCT) is an immersive four-day training experience foundational for therapists aiming to specialize in EFCT. Led by certified trainers, it offers a comprehensive introduction to the EFCT model, focusing on the science of attachment and the systematic approach to couple therapy. This training is crucial for therapists because it equips them with the necessary skills to foster secure, resilient relationships in therapy. It’s the first step in formal EFCT training, opening the door to advanced practice and certification and enhancing therapists’ efficacy and confidence in their clinical work with couples.}

*** Tools and concepts can be applied to individual, couple, and family work.

Objectives for the Externship:

_{Participants will obtain a clear understanding of the basic experiential and systemic concepts of an “Emotionally Focused” approach to therapy.}

_{Participants will be able to assess and diagram clients in the web of their interpersonal attachments and conceptualize relationship distress and repair based on theories of attachment and emotion.}

_{Participants will develop skills in sharing and maintaining an engaged, open, and collaborative alliance with clients.}

^{Participants will develop skills in the five moves of the basic macro-intervention – the EFT Tango –to change patterns of affect regulation, models of self and others, strategies for engaging others, and interactional patterns.}

^{Participants will develop skills in EFT micro-interventions taken from experiential and attachment systemic models of intervention.}

^{Participants will develop skills in overcoming common blocks and impasses in couple therapy, shaping core corrective emotional experiences that lead to constructive dependency and what Rogers termed ‘existential living.’}

Diversity Scholarships

Three scholarships available and they will be disbursed on a "first come, first serve" basis. 

Diversity Scholarships are intended for therapists who:

1. reside in the state of Alaska;
2. AND identify as belonging to a marginalized group;
3. AND have financial needs such that they cannot pursue training without a scholarship;
4. AND will not be using education benefits or receiving reimbursement for this training from an employer (self-employment okay; If you work for a non-profit agency, please contact us for a non-profit discount.)
5. clinicians currently practicing in the field and have completed a master level or higher degree

Student discounts are intended for participants who are currently enrolled as students in their second year of a graduate level program studying Psychotherapy, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology or equivalent, that include supervised internship (licensure track degrees) and not yet practicing in the field as professionals.

Already purchased courses are ineligible. 

Must be a second year graduate level student as outlined above.

The student discount is $400 off of one Full Price ticket, for a total cost of $750 for the course.
